Problem

Building a signal is easy —

Search long enough and something always looks good in hindsight. Test enough variants and at least one will shine, even when none holds any edge.

checking whether it holds up is the hard part.

The entire process is built around that error: a signal counts as working only after it has been measured live, under rules fixed before launch.

The Full Record, Measured Live.

1 – Complete from day one.

Before a signal goes live, we write down how it decides, which data it uses, and what trading costs we assume. Measurement starts on day one and never pauses.

2 – Failed signals stay in the record.

When a signal stops working, we do not remove it. It keeps running and keeps being measured alongside the others. That way you can see how often a signal actually delivers.

3 – A record that grows on its own.

Every trading day adds one more day of live results, produced without knowing the outcome in advance. A test on historical prices cannot do that: there the outcome is already known. The longer a signal runs, the more its record tells you.

Rulebook

How a Signal is Evaluated.

Changes start a new signal.

A signal's rules are written down before it goes live and stay unchanged. If we want to improve it, that becomes a new signal with its own history, starting at zero. The old version stays in the record as its predecessor.

1

The same scorecard.

The same measures run automatically each evening after the market closes, for every signal, unchanged over time. So any two signals, and any two months, can be compared directly.

2

Compared with the market.

Every signal is measured against the market and against the version it replaced. A number on its own says nothing, so it never stands alone. An improvement has to beat both.
